Discovery Channel's American Loggers

Each American Loggers episode will follow the Pelletier family, which for three generations has traveled along "The Golden Road"

Discovery Channel has announced American Loggers, a new Ice Road Truckers-like reality series that will follow a family of Maine logging truckers who supply paper mills, will premiere Friday, February 27 at 10PM ET/PT.

Each American Loggers episode will follow the Pelletier family, which for three generations has traveled along "The Golden Road" -- a treacherous hundred-mile stretch that runs westward from Maine's northern coast to the foot of Mount Katahdin.

The road serves as the lone passage between the furthest outskirts of rural civilization and an expansive wilderness that constitutes the single largest swath of unprotected forest north of the Mississippi.

However it's no easy task as the road is often thickly blanketed with snow and ice, has no imposed speed limit and is mostly unpaved.

Despite the dangers, the seven Pelletier brothers routinely use their rigs to haul hundreds of thousands of pounds of lumber to supply paper mills and support their own livelihood.
